The Department of Physics at Democritus University of Thrace awards PhD degrees in a wide range of research fields.

The research of PhD candidates is conducted under the supervision of the Department’s professors, who all possess extensive research experience in their respective fields of study.

Doctoral Studies at the Department of Physics of Democritus University of Thrace aim to advance knowledge through the production of original scientific research, leading to the acquisition of a Doctoral Degree.

The Doctoral Degree is the highest academic title, which certifies the mastery of research methodology upon completion of original scientific research and the substantial contribution of its holder to the development of science and knowledge.

The Doctoral studies regulation (In Greek) is here and reflects the structure and operating rules of the Doctoral Studies Program of the Department of Physics of the Democritus University of Thrace, as it was prepared by decision of the Department’s Assembly (meeting no. 26/02-06-2025) and was recommended by the Postgraduate Studies Committee of the Democritus University of Thrace to the Senate of the Democritus University of Thrace, which approved it (decision 65/133/27-06-2025).
